Keeping your car safe from floods
ICICI Lombard presents Five easy tips that can go a long way in keeping your car safe from floods
Avoid driving in floods If the water level is above the tyres, don't drive into the flood water as your steering control could be lost.
Drive slow through floods Shift the vehicle to the first gear before entering water. Don't pedal full accelerator as it may force flood water to enter the cylinders which in turn may damage internal engine parts. In case your car stalls in floods, do not try to push start or crank start. It is advisable to get technical help and tow your vehicle to the the nearest authorised garage.
For your Personal Safety Avoid parking the vehicle near newly built compound wall or underneath big trees, as storms or heavy thundershowers may cause them to collapse.
Car maintenance & hygiene To avoid dampness & musty smell in your car, remove cloth type foot mats & put plastic or rubber foot mats. These mats do not absorb moisture and are hence advisable over cloth mats.
